For the Middlesbrough fans in the Transfer Tavern, their club’s dismal relegation from the Premier League seems so long ago now.
Indeed, now Boro are back in the Championship, the punters propping up our bar are oh so excited about next season, now Garry Monk has been appointed as their new boss. Not only that, but the former Leeds United and Swansea City coach has been active in the transfer market, further exciting our drinkers.
The Riverside club recently smashed their transfer record to land Nottingham Forest star Britt Assombalonga in a £15m deal as they attempt to make a quick-fire return to the Premier League. One of the most prolific marksmen in the Championship, the 24-year-old is a major coup for Boro.
Undoubtedly, Forest fans will be upset. With the Midlands giants seemingly on the up for once, they really could have done with keeping him next season, though the Boro fans on Twitter haven’t given too much sympathy to their jilted counterparts.
With that in mind, here’s a message from a few Boro fans to Nottingham Forest supporters on social media.
I cannot wait for Forest away now #UTB
