Leeds United: Fans slate Kiko Casilla after Charlton defeat

Some Leeds United fans were left unimpressed by goalkeeper Kiko Casilla’s display against Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

The Whites were beaten 1-0 at the Valley, and the Spanish goalkeeper, who has appeared in every single game for Leeds this season, was deemed at fault for what was ultimately the winning goal for the Addicks.

From a corner, Tom Lockyer managed to hit a volley towards goal and Casilla made a real mess of things by parrying the ball straight into the back of Macauley Bonne before it eventually trickled into the net.

It is not the first time that the Spaniard has made a mistake during his short time at Elland Road either.

In a key game against Sheffield United last season he was sent off for rushing out of his goal and fouling Billy Sharp, whilst he also got his wires crossed with centre-back Liam Cooper as the two of them collided in their play-off semi-final against Derby, allowing Jack Marriott to slot the ball into an open goal.

The defeat meant that Leeds missed the opportunity to go top of the Championship table, instead leaving them in fourth place.

Casilla’s error was understandably one of the main talking points among the Leeds fanbase after the game, with many taking to Twitter to criticise the former Real Madrid stopper for his mistake. Here is what a few of them had to say…
