Our Sunderland fans here in the Transfer Tavern are feeling pretty downcast now as it really does look like they’ll be getting relegated this season.
The Black Cats have been scraping by for the last few years and have survived by the skin of their teeth on more than one occasion.
The aim was to do that again under David Moyes, too, but it appears that this season is going to be the one where their luck runs out.
Certainly, they need a huge slice of it to get out of trouble and it appears all they’re going to get is misfortune with Jermain Defoe a serious doubt for the game with Leicester tomorrow – as per Keith Downie on Twitter:
Jermain Defoe hasn’t trained the last two days and currently a doubt for Leicester tomorrow. Victor Anichebe could be involved.

It just keeps getting worse for the Black Cats, then, with the recently re-called England international undoubtedly one of the most important players in the bottom half, let alone at Sunderland.
