The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are well accustomed to reports linking their star players away from the club.
The latest rumours in The Daily Star predict a £45 million move away from the capital for left-back Danny Rose, who apparently favours a move to Manchester United over London rivals Chelsea.
Tottenham have already seen Kyle Walker depart the club to Manchester City this summer, and losing another England international to a title-rival would certainly dampen their aspirations for silverware this season.
Rose has been sidelined since January with a knee injury, however, Welshman Ben Davies has stepped in to deliver a string of well-rounded performances in Rose’s absence.
Davies’ consistency has not gone unnoticed by manager Mauricio Pochetino, who recently labelled him “one of the best full-backs in the Premier League”.
Rose’s criticism of the financial structure of the club in August has tarnished his reputation amongst the Spurs faithful, and as a result many appear willing to cash in on him during the January window, for the right price.
However, once Rose returns to full-fitness, the fans might just have a change of heart when he reminds them what they’ve been missing.
