Speaking to Voetbal International (via Chronicle Live) Jeremain Lens has said that he wants to remain with Fenerbahce once his loan spell from Sunderland finishes, with our resident Black Cats fans not bothered if he doesn’t want to help them out of their plight.
Lens has been called up for the Netherlands’ squad for the latest World Cup qualifying round and scored a fine goal against Manchester United in the Europa League last week.
Despite struggling at the Stadium of Light, he notched a stunning free-kick against the Red Devils in another dismal Jose Mourinho loss.
The winger says he is enjoying life with the Istanbul giants, too, and does not want to return to the struggling Wearsiders.
“I feel I no longer belong there [Sunderland]. If Fenerbahce want me, I want to stay. I am not happy at Sunderland”, he said.
I have friends within this [Fenerbahce] team, my relationships with my team-mates are excellent.”
The Black Cats have been in the relegation zone for some time this season and only won their first game of the season last weekend against Bournemouth, leaving them still another six points from safety.
The likes of Adnan Januzaj, Duncan Watmore and Wahbi Khazri have been vying to play on the flanks for the North East club this year.
