Fans abandoning England – International supporters turned Algeria fans during the last WC game
The lack of spirit is creating a massive turncoat effect among the international fans of the England national football team according to the sports site sofanatics.com.
During the last match against Algeria 60 percent of the active Sofanatics users switched their favorite team from England to Algeria. Before the match people were trusting the oldest football team of the world. An amazing 97 percent of the users started following the match on England’s side.
Even users with England national team’s logo as their Facebook profile picture ended up favoring Algeria.
“No one can support that tired England”, a fanatic Tottenham fan from Finland said on Sofanatics chat during the second period. “I hope that hardworking Algeria wins”, he noted after changing side.
“This feels like cheating on my wife”, another football fan chatted after abandoning England. And the other Sofanatics users cheered loudly.
