Everton have been dealt a triple fitness concern before they play Bournemouth again in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Lowdown: Carabao Cup exit

The Merseysiders slumped to an embarrassing 4-1 defeat away to the Cherries in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, after Frank Lampard controversially made 11 changes to his starting line-up.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gueye were among those not in the squad, after they all came off in the 2-0 league defeat at home to Leicester City last weekend.

The Latest: Fitness concerns

Speaking to the media in his post-match press conference on Tuesday night, Lampard has revealed that Onana, Gueye and Calvert-Lewin all have fitness issues.

The Everton boss is hopeful that the former two will be able to train ahead of the trip to Bournemouth at the weekend, while he admitted that he would be 'surprised' if Calvert-Lewin was fit for Saturday.

Lampard said: "Onana, we're hoping will be fit to train tomorrow or Thursday. Gana we hope may be fit to train on Thursday. Dominic - we're waiting on more news from a specialist. I'd be surprised if he's fit for Saturday."

The Verdict: Not ideal

After a patchy run of form which has seen them win just one of their last seven matches in all competitions, injuries to key players is far from ideal for Everton as they look to rectify their midweek loss against Bournemouth by beating them over the weekend, sending out  a positive message ahead of the break for the World Cup in Qatar.

Calvert-Lewin simply cannot catch a break at the moment, having had injury problems throughout this season and last, while both Onana and Gueye have been mainstays in the Toffees' midfield in the league.

If all three are ruled out for Saturday, it would be so much more difficult for Everton to get the result that they need heading into the World Cup break.
