Nottingham Forest missed out on a brilliant opportunity to enter the automatic promotion places after suffering a 1-0 home defeat to Charlton last night.
Leeds’ draw with promotion rivals Brentford meant that three points would have lifted Forest above those two sides, as well as Fulham, who play on tonight. Added to that, they have missed out on a great chance to continue their fine momentum, having beaten Leeds on Saturday to make it six wins from nine league games.
One of the reasons for such a poor display may have been Sabri Lamouchi’s decision to make so many changes to the side and some fans certainly think that is the case. Regulars such as Lewis Grabban, Matty Cash and Samba Sow missed out as the Forest boss decided to rest players, a decision which could still pay off with 14 league games still left to play. A reaction will be needed, however, in terms of both performance and result, with the trip to West Brom their next chance to get the promotion push back on track.
