Ipswich Town ‘make approach’ for “absolutely lightning” League One forward

Ipswich Town are determined to make their return to the Premier League count.

Having suffered an immediate relegation the last time they reached the top flight, the Tractor Boys are eager to avoid history repeating itself and have already been active in the transfer market.

Emersonn has arrived from Toulouse, while experienced striker Chuba Akpom has joined from Ajax as Gary O’Neil continues to strengthen his squad.

Now, another exciting attacking addition could be on the way to Portman Road.

Ipswich Make Approach for Abdul Fatawu

According to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, Ipswich have made an approach for Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu as they continue building a squad capable of surviving in the Premier League.

The Ghana international, who has previously been described as “absolutely lightning” by former Newcastle United goalkeeper Shay Given, is attracting interest from several clubs following Leicester’s relegation to League One.

While no agreement has yet been reached, negotiations are expected to take place as Ipswich explore the conditions of a potential deal.

The 22-year-old also enhanced his reputation with Ghana at the 2026 World Cup, and his pace, direct running and creativity have made him one of the Championship’s most sought-after attacking players this summer.

Should Ipswich succeed in landing him, it would represent another significant statement of intent ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
