Ipswich Town are preparing for another Premier League challenge after securing an immediate return to the top flight, and the club are determined to avoid the same fate as their previous campaign in the division.
The Tractor Boys have already strengthened their squad under new manager Gary O’Neil, bringing in attacking reinforcements such as Emersonn and Chuba Akpom, while also adding defensive depth with the arrival of centre-back Cédric Kipré.
Now, another experienced defender looks set to join the club ahead of their Premier League return.
Ipswich Agree Deal to Sign Diop
According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Ipswich Town have reached an agreement with Fulham for the signing of Issa Diop.
The Morocco international is expected to complete a medical before putting pen to paper on a four-year contract at Portman Road, with the deal set to provide O’Neil with another experienced option at the heart of his defence.
Diop arrives with plenty of Premier League pedigree, having made 96 appearances for Fulham since joining from West Ham United in 2022. Overall, the 29-year-old has featured in 173 top-flight matches during his time in English football.
The centre-back also played a role for Morocco at the 2026 World Cup, further enhancing his reputation on the international stage.
For Ipswich, the move represents another step in building a squad capable of competing in the Premier League, while Diop’s experience could prove valuable as the newly promoted side look to establish themselves among England’s elite.
