The domestic transfer window is still open and Premier League side West Ham United are looking to use this to their advantage as reports suggest they are keen on a Championship player.
According to The Mirror and as tweeted by @whufc_news, the Hammers are interested in signing Preston defender Ben Davies this week. His contract expires next year, meaning he could be available for a bargain fee.
Some of the Irons’ fan base don’t seem best pleased at this transfer news, and with good reason. Last term, the 25 year-old’s failed to stand out for the Lilywhites as he averaged only 0.9 tackles and 0.8 interceptions per game, per WhoScored.
It has been a frustrating transfer window for West Ham in terms of centre-backs after unsuccessful pursuits for James Tarkowski and Wesley Fofona. However, it now seems they are looking at alternatives to that pair, much to the dismay of these Irons supporters – one of whom drew comparisons with ex-Preston man Jordan Hugill, who subsequently made just three appearances for the Hammers:

And the agent just happy to be David Moyes’ brother! Gone from offering 30+ for Tarkowski to pinching a nearly out of contract player…
