Nonetheless, Tottenham have looked good in bursts this year – and one good result and a couple of signings could turn everything around for Mauricio Pochettino.
With the turn of the year comes the re-opening of the transfer window, and there are are a number of players that Pochettino should be targeting as he looks to rebuild his side.
With their defence remaining solid, the Tottenham attack is where improvements need to be made – and a couple of attacking midfielders could be just what Pochettino needs to take the weight off of Harry Kane.

Ross Barkley
Ross Barkley has struggled at Everton in recent weeks, and a move away from the Toffees could be exactly what he needs.
A young, exciting attacking midfielder, Barkley would work fantastically alongside a player like Dele Alli – with their English connection likely to aid them in forming a real connection when going forward.
Barkley is arguably more versatile than Alli, given that he is comfortable playing across the midfield – rather than just centrally, meaning that the duo could play together.
The young Englishman has all the talent in the world, but as of yet he has been unable to develop to his full potential – but Pochettino is renowned as a master craftsman of English talent.
Bruma
Another signing that Pochettino should look towards is Bruma, who looks destined to make a big money move sooner, rather than later.
Offering electric pace, exquisite dribbling and an eye for a goal, Bruma is, arguably, the perfect winger – and Mauricio Pochettino, like with Barkley, could be the manager to take him to the next level.
He has all the talent in the world, and he has clearly outgrown the Turkish league – and so a move makes a lot of sense.
With Sissoko underperforming, he would offer a quality alternative.
