When you’re chasing Premier League promotion, perhaps the last thing fans will want to hear is that the players may have underestimated their opponents.
So, it’s no surprise to see fans taking to Twitter to bemoan the latest staggering comments made by centre-half Ben White following the shock defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday. The Brighton and Hove Albion man suggested that the Yorkshire outfit failed to raise their game as they weren’t playing against a ‘big side’ (via Yorkshire Evening Post).
Following defeat to the Owls, Marcelo Bielsa’s side have now won just one of their last six Championship games (via WhoScored). It’s a run of form which has seen an 11-point gap, which they held after the draw against Preston, reduced to just six points after the resurgence of Brentford.
Fans were left feeling less than pleased with the comments from 22 year-old White as they took to Twitter to react. Here is a selection of tweets from the Elland Road faithful:
