Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, former Whites shot-stopper Paul Robinson has had his say over whether Marcelo Bielsa can snap up impressive youngster Ben White at the end of the season on a permanent deal.
Robinson, who made 110 appearances for Leeds during his playing career (Transfermarkt), managed to go on and represent England at international level whilst also playing for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Blackburn Rovers. Now, speaking to MOT Leeds News surrounding the noteworthy form of White, Robinson has worshipped the 22-year-old as ‘outstanding‘ – going on to say that he has developed into a top class player. However, given his terrific form, evident by him averaging 3 clearances per game according to WhoScored.com, Robinson believes many big suitors will also be taking note after his campaign at Elland Road. As well as clearances, White has also managed 1.7 tackles and 2.3 interceptions per game.
“Ben White has been outstanding this season,” explained Robinson. “At 22 he’s developed into a top-class player and he’s shown how good is he when he steps into Kalvin Phillips’ position in midfield.
“Leeds have often struggled when Phillips has been out but White has stepped up. I’d be amazed if Leeds were able to keep hold of him past the summer because Brighton will want him back with absolute certainty and one of the top six will come in for him.”
Indeed, if White continues his momentum until the end of the season, Leeds could struggle to sign him on a permanent deal given the possible high demand.
