Liverpool are reportedly eyeing up a move for Benfica defender Antonio Silva.

The Lowdown: More dropped points...

Jurgen Klopp's team dropped more points in the Premier League with a 1-0 defeat away to Nottingham Forest this afternoon.

The Reds have only won four of their opening 11 league games and are in danger of missing out on a top-four place and Champions League football for next season.

The Latest: Liverpool 'following' Silva

As per Portuguese news outlet O Jogo (via Sport Witness), Liverpool are among a number of clubs who are 'following' Silva, alongside the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Benfica president Rui Costa does not want to negotiate an exit for the 18-year-old, who has a contract until 2027 and is protected by a mega €100m (£87.2m) release clause.

Nonetheless, the Merseysiders managed to persuade the Lisbon giants to sell Darwin Nunez to them, so another deal could be on the cards if the price is right.

The Verdict: Get it done

The Reds have had plenty of injury problems all season, including at centre-back, where both Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate are currently injured.

Hailed as 'crazy' for his impressive performances in the Champions League this term by Football Talent Scout's Jacek Kulig, it is scary to think that Silva is just 18 years of age, considering that he is already performing admirably on the big stage.

The 6 foot 1 colossus has been a mainstay in a Benfica side who are unbeaten so far this season, so signing a player of his quality at his age is surely a no-brainer for Liverpool, especially if he becomes available in the January transfer window.
