Liverpool are interested in a deal for Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala, according to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.
The Lowdown: Musiala not for sale
The versatile Germany international still has four years remaining on his contract in the Bundesliga, but now appears to be attracting interest following a string of impressive performances at the Allianz Arena.
Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic stated last month that his prized asset was not for sale, though that hasn’t stopped the Reds from looking into a potential move, and it seems as if FSG are keen on bringing him to the Premier League.
The Latest: Liverpool eyeing Musiala
Taking to Twitter, Plettenberg revealed that Liverpool are monitoring Musiala, but that a deal at this stage is unlikely given Bayern’s current transfer stance.
“News #Musiala: Based on reports from UK: Yes, LFC is interested in Musiala. Like any other top club in the world. But a transfer is no topic at this stage. He doesn’t want to leave Bayern and he is not for sale as mentioned by Salihamidzic at Sky.”

The Verdict: Bellingham’s the priority
Musiala, dubbed a ‘monster’ by football talent scout Jacek Kulig, has made a rapid start to the Bundesliga season, making eight goal contributions in seven appearances, but it’s obvious that the chances of Liverpool striking a deal are next to impossible.
The Reds are reportedly plotting a marquee signing in January, with Jude Bellingham having been identified as their number one target, so missing out on the Bayern teenager shouldn’t be too much of a blow.
The Merseysiders haven’t made a big midfield signing since the arrival of Thiago two years ago, so the Borussia Dortmund talent would be a welcome addition should they be able to secure his services in the New Year.
