Southampton will be hoping to remain out of the relegation zone for the rest of the season after a string of promising results.
In what will prove a hard task for Ralph Hasenhuttl and his men, Southampton need to ensure their better run of results continue with a nicer run of fixtures around the corner.
The Austrian’s entrance has still not clouded the obvious issues Southampton have as a team and during the January transfer window, the manager will be keen to rectify those glowing concerns.
Even though their defensive fragilities have improved since Hasenhuttl has arrived, a new addition at the back wouldn’t be unnecessary.
A no-nonsense player Southampton could really cast their eye over is Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo.
Rojo, (who is valued at £13.5 million on Transfermarkt) has seemingly been frozen out at Old Trafford and faces a very uncertain future with his contract up in two years time.
Without regular time on the pitch, Rojo will feel a move away from the club is a good decision for him at this stage in his career.
He is one of few old-fashion defenders left, a player that fears no tackle and will always give 100%. Simply put, Southampton don’t have a player like Marcos Rojo and he would undoubtedly improve things defensively.
The 28-year-old needs to be playing and at Southampton, he could seize the perfect opportunity to do just that.
A loan deal is surely something that will suit all parties and at the end of the season, Southampton could be delighted with the deal as the Argentinian international had a major part to play in keeping them up.
