Marvin Plattenhardt is the left-back West Ham need in January

West Ham have been getting better under Manuel Pellegrini and the hope is that soon, the Hammers could be a hard team for anyone to play against.

Consistency remains their biggest issue having still not won back-to-back games since the start of 2017 and looking at the squad of players they have, it’s hard to believe.

With a generous run of fixtures coming up after they face league leaders Manchester City, it really is a time for Manuel Pellegrini and his side to show the rest of the league what they’re capable of.

Regardless of positive or negative results, there is improvements that West Ham need to quickly make if they at least want to strive to be a top ten side.

Signing a left-back will be a job of extreme urgency, having seen the inconsistency in both Arthur Masuaku and Aaron Cresswell this season. Hertha Berlin’s Marvin Plattenhardt is the ideal replacement for them both and he would represent a great option for the Hammers.

Plattenhardt, who is valued at £15.3 million on Transfermarkt, is the ultimate improvement at left-back that West Ham really need to look into signing.

The Germany international has really upped his game in the last few seasons and is now important as ever to Hertha Berlin.

With his seven league appearances this season so far, the 26-year-old has helped keep two clean-sheets and even popped up with an assist.

Plattenhardt missed just one game last season as he went on to provide seven assists in the league and be a consistent threat down the left-hand side, with the ability to play further forward as well.

West Ham need a left-back and they would do well to find someone better than Marvin Plattenhardt.
