Not long to go: 2 key transfers Spurs must seal before the window closes

Our Spurs fans here in the Transfer Tavern have had plenty to shout about this season, and they walked away from title rivals Man City yesterday with a hard earned point.

Mauricio Pochettino has got the White Hart Lane outfit playing some excellent football, and plenty of the chat here at the bar is about if they can go all the way this season and knock Chelsea off top spot come May.

The Argentine manager has bought well over the years for Spurs, and has placed a lot of emphasis on top quality young talent which the team are now reaping the benefits from.

Spurs have hardly been massively active this January, but there is still time for them to do some business, and our landlord agrees with that stance.

With that in mind, here are TWO key transfers Spurs could look to seal before the end of the month…

James Rodriguez

The Colombian might have been linked with some of the biggest clubs in world football over the last 12 months, but if Spurs wanted to send  a real signal of intent out, then they could try and buy the Madrid man.

Rodriguez is a world class talent with a wand of a left foot, and if he was to join up with his fellow South American in Pochettino, it might well revitalise him somewhat at a crucial stage in his career.

Benedikt Howedes

Spurs are going to be missing Jan Verthongen for a while, so a centre back might be on the agenda for the club.

One man they could move for is German international Howedes.

The classy central defender has been excellent over a number of years for Schalke, and he could be the ideal signing if Spurs could pull it off.
