West Ham fans finally had something to cheer in the Transfer Tavern on Monday, as under-fire boss Slaven Bilic led the side to victory over Huddersfield Town.
The Hammers lost their opening three matches of the campaign to further increase the pressure on manager Bilic, yet in their first match at the London Stadium this season, they secured all three points thanks to second half goals from Pedro Obiang and Andre Ayew.
And those West Ham supporters lining the bar in the Tavern last night would have likely been pleased with their side’s display against the Terriers, although the bookies have today installed boss Bilic as the heavy favourite to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job.
Crystal Palace’s decision to part with manager Frank de Boer on Monday after just four league games in charge will likely have several managers looking over their shoulder, not least Bilic who is now a clear 11/10 favourite to be the next to leave his post.
Newcastle United’s Rafa Benitez is second favourite but at a distant 9/2 after back-to-back victories for his side in the Premier League, while Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino, who saw his side fail to score for a third time already this season on Saturday, appears to have some breathing space at 10/1.
West Ham’s win over Huddersfield will surely give Bilic more time at the London Stadium, but it very much remains to be seen whether the bookies have got this one right, and the Croat is indeed the next man to lose his job.
