Many Chelsea fans on Twitter are calling for the club to make a major announcement on the birthday of one of the greatest players to ever turn out Stamford Bridge. Gianfranco Zola is celebrating his birthday today (Thursday, July 5th), and his former club have seen fit to celebrate the news on their official Twitter account.

Zola, of course, has gone down in the lore of Chelsea for his incredible performances during a great spell in London. The former forward became one of the most popular players ever at Chelsea, and that reputation has earned him a legendary status today.
Lots of Chelsea fans, though, aren’t too concerned about what he did for the club during his playing days, though, it seems. Instead, they’re focusing on the future. Zola, of course, has been linked with having a potential role at Chelsea this summer, with the Italian apparently an option to be Maurizio Sarri’s assistant at Stamford Bridge if the Italian moves to Stamford Bridge.
His managerial career hasn’t been great, it must be said, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t wanted at the club. Indeed, to the contrary, Chelsea fans are desperate for him to return to Chelsea in a coaching capacity – and fans are pleading for exactly that to happen this summer.
