Delighted with how things are going with their first season back in the big time, the Middlesbrough fans in the Transfer Tavern are in good spirits of late.
Aitor Karanka’s men have barely taken the league by storm this term, though look a competitive outfit and many of their summer signings look to have paid off for the Spaniard.
Still, reports from the Sun suggesting Boro could sell one of their promotion heroes have caused concern amongst our Teeside drinkers.
They claim Turkish titans Galatasaray are lining up a shock £8.5m move for defender Daniel Ayala, who proved so impressive as Boro won promotion in second place from the Championship last season.
The Spaniard has since lost his place to both Ben Gibson and Calum Chambers in a new-look backline, so perhaps such a big fee could tempt Boro into selling, despite his popularity.
He only penned a new deal at the Riverside last season, though things have changed these days and he’s largely on the periphery of Karanka’s first-team.
