Leeds United have made 'no contact' with Diego Martinez regarding potentially replacing Marcelo Bielsa as manager, according to a new report.

The Lowdown: Doubts surrounds Bielsa's future

The Whites have had a disappointing second season back in the Premier League, with relegation to the Championship not yet out of the question.

With Bielsa's current deal running out in June, and with no sign of a new contract being agreed, it could be that the Argentine is considering moving on.

Martinez, who was manager of Granada between 2018 and 2021, is a name Leeds have been linked with in the past.

The Latest: 'No contact' with Martinez

According to Estadio Deportivo [via Sport Witness], however, 'sources inside' Leeds claim that there has been 'no contact' with Martinez regarding the role.

It is thought that the Whites are now looking elsewhere at possible candidates to come in, should Bielsa leave.

The Verdict: Hopefully Bielsa stays

While the current speculation suggests there is a genuine chance that Bielsa moves on, it would still be best for Leeds for him to stay put for another year. He remains a special manager and someone who the supporters adore, having brought some glory days back at Elland Road.

At 66, some could feel he may become a fading force, but he has been dealt a harsh hand throughout this season - having to make do without so many key players at different times, including Luke Ayling, Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford.

Bielsa has another year in him to work his magic, and while relegation would make for a different situation - a change could be called for at that point - Leeds should pull away once Cooper, Phillips and Bamford return in the near future.
