According to The Liverpool Echo, West Brom are set to make a loan bid for Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho in January, with our resident Baggies fans here in the Transfer Tavern hoping Tony Pulis can get this one over the line.
The French international has not played for Liverpool so far this season after being sent home from the club’s pre-season tour of the United States over the summer for disciplinary reasons and many feel that he may never don the red jersey again.
It’s a stark turnaround from last season where he was a mainstay as the Reds reached the Europa League final and now it appears the Baggies are set to try and make him an offer of an escape.
The Midlands side were impressive last time out at the weekend against Leicester City as they beat the reigning champions on their own turf 2-1 and a signing like this from the club would suggest to their fans that they are looking to progress upwards in the future.
Having recently been taken over in a big Chinese investment, the Hawthorns outfit endured a frustrating summer window, though it could well be the start of something special.
