Rangers must attempt to sign Oliver McBurnie once again

Rangers are clearly a club on the rise under manager Steven Gerrard and the gulf in class between Celtic and the Gers is shrinking by the game.

With recent results going their way, Rangers are progressing further domestically and in Europe than anyone expected them to do.

It was supposed to be a season of transition under a new manager but instantly, Gerrard has got his team playing and most importantly, winning.

Nevertheless, there is still more to be done if Rangers want to continue their strong start to the season and signing a reliable goalscorer is one of them. With an abundance of goals coming from everywhere on the pitch, he’s not necessarily needed now but Oliver McBurnie would be a big coup with the future in mind.

McBurnie, who is valued at £3.6 million on Transfermarkt, is a player in great form and one that Rangers should really try and sign as they look to continue their growth under Steven Gerrard.

Speculation was huge over the summer that Rangers could sign McBurnie (who supports the Light Blues) but after a move failed to come together and the Scotsman signed a new deal with Swansea, he has since scored seven goals in 15 starts.

The tall goalscorer is a handful for Championship defenders and continues to be an important part to everything good that Swansea do. Whilst quickly gaining six caps for Scotland this year alone, that shows how good he has been in 2018 and how good he can become in the future.

Rangers are so close to almost having the squad to challenge for titles again and the capture of 22-year-old McBurnie could allow that ambition to happen.
