It’s been a busy week for West Ham supporters as far as transfer rumours go with Fulham captain Tom Cairney the subject of a failed £20m bid, according to Sky Sports.
Cairney, who scored the only goal in Fulham’s Championship play-off final clash against Aston Villa and is valued at £15m by Transfermarkt, was pivotal in the Whites’ push for promotion. However, he’s not worth whatever owner Shahid Khan is demanding and West Ham should look elsewhere.
Jean-Michael Seri had been targeted by Manuel Pellegrini, as per Sky Sports, but a bid for Cairney, on top of the interest in signing Jack Wilshere (also reported by the British broadcaster), could suggest that a deal for the Nice midfielder is unlikely.
West Ham do have a capable enough midfield; although, it could probably do with a tweak or two. Pellegrini’s rumoured pursuit of high-profile central midfielders like Seri and Wilshere and £20m offer for Cairney, though, is perhaps an indication of the Chilean feeling the team needs an extra bit of quality in that area of the pitch to reach his goals for the forthcoming Premier League season.
Hammers supporters, however, don’t seem too keen on the possible arrival of Cairney.
Take a look at their thoughts on the Fulham midfielder below…
Would rather have wilshere

Good player, but not worth that much. Hopefully it’s just a rumor that we have bid

Tome Cairney and Alfie Mawson COMBINED are not worth £20m

Seri > Wilshere > Cairney. Wilshire world class when fit idec. https://t.co/nLYybLisGh

Wilshere > cairney

I wouldn’t pay £20m+ for Mawson or Cairney. Both worth £12-£15m imo.
