West Ham United have somewhat recovered after a disastrous start to the season and fans here in the pub are slowly beginning to believe Slaven Bilic is the man to lead this club forward again!
The Hammers were well and truly in the relegation mix at the start of the season but some decent form through the Christmas period has seen them pull away from the danger zone for now and it seems the side will certainly be in the top flight at the end of the campaign.
But with the whole of the Hammers fanbase still not entirely behind the move to the London Stadium, these still aren’t the happiest of times we’ve seen in east London but there’s certainly a good enough project there to get things done.
And with the team going forward rather than backwards now, we want to open the vault and have a look at some players you might have just forgotten played for the Hammers.
So armed with some suggestions from our most loyal of punters, here’s 2 players you probably forgot ever played for West Ham…
Julian Faubert
Often referred to as the worst Real Madrid signing in history, before his failed time in Spain, French full-back Julian Faubert did have a stint with West Ham United.
He was with the Hammers for a hefty five-year spell where he featured just shy of 90 times but these certainly weren’t the best years of a career which, in hindsight, could have been a lot better.
Hammers fans in here often poke fun at the once capped French international and who can blame them, he did once fall asleep on the Real Madrid bench!
Glen Johnson
Glen Johnson came through the youth ranks at West Ham United and featured a handful of times for the first-team before making the move to Chelsea.
Whilst fans saw his full potential during his very early years with the club, supporters here in the pub only wish that he could have stayed at Upton Park longer, especially considering he struggled for game time during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Could we see him make a return to his boyhood club in the future though? That very much remains a possibility.
