Sheffield United: Fans rave about David McGoldrick on club post

Sheffield United have enjoyed an excellent start to the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, sitting in fifth place after 12 matches (BBC Sport).

They are certainly exceeding expectations following promotion from the Championship last season and will hope to continue with another strong performance against Manchester United on Sunday.

Manager Chris Wilder has been consistent with his team selection throughout the season, and one player who has been a regular in the starting 11 is David McGoldrick.

The 31-year-old has started eight Premier League matches so far, with three of the four games he didn’t begin being because he was out injured (Transfermarkt).

He is yet to score in the top flight, but he remains a favourite of Wilder’s, with the Blades boss recently describing him as “brilliant” (via Yorkshire Post).

Sheffield United posted a Tweet on Wednesday asking supporters to describe McGoldrick in one word and it would be fair to say that the replies were extremely positive.

Indeed, most of the words that Blades fans replied with were complimentary of the Republic of Ireland international, showing that even though he hasn’t scored yet his work rate and ability on the ball is being appreciated in the stands.
