What a weekend it was for Sheffield United, who secured an impressive 2-0 win against Everton at Goodison Park.
The Blades stunned their more experienced Premier League opponents, picking up three points despite having just 30% of possession.
Goals towards the end of either half sealed victory for the South Yorkshire outfit. Colombian defender Yerry Mina netted an own goal after a wicked corner delivery from Oliver Norwood just before half time, with summer signing Lys Mousset doubling the lead with just 11 minutes left on the clock.
Chris Wilder’s side were disciplined throughout, with their back five excellently thwarting an Everton front line which included the likes of Richarlison, Moise Kean and Gylfi Sigurdsson. But most of the talk amongst the Blades’ faithful online has seemingly been about Mousset’s strike.
It was the Frenchman’s first goal for Sheffield United since arriving from AFC Bournemouth, and he took it expertly by slotting the ball through the legs of England number one Jordan Pickford.
Plenty of credit is also being given to former Everton man John Lundstram, who’s outstanding through ball set up the goal. The midfielder couldn’t get a game last season in the Championship but has cemented his place in the first team this campaign with some displays of real quality.
