Sheffield United: John Lundstram changes fans minds with outstanding performances

What a start to the 2019/20 season it has been for Sheffield United midfielder John Lundstram.

The 25-year-old has been an ever-present for the Blades so far in the Premier League, starting all six of their fixtures to date.

He has managed to net his first top flight goal in that time, scoring the winner against Crystal Palace in August. Added to that, he also picked up an assist with a brilliant through ball to set up Lys Mousset’s goal away at Everton recently.

It has been a remarkable turnaround for the former Oxford United midfielder, who last season appeared in just 10 of Sheffield United’s 46 Championship fixtures as they won promotion.

Attacking options such as Mark Duffy and Kieran Dowell were often preferred last term, but with Chris Wilder looking to make his midfield more robust he has made the former Everton trainee a first team regular.

Lundstram had been written off by many Blades fans, with many believing that he wasn’t good enough for the second tier let alone the Premier League.

But his performances since they returned to the top table of English football in August have been outstanding, and the vast majority of the Bramall Lane faithful have now completely changed their opinion of him…
