The resident Irons in the Transfer Tavern have been delighted their club’s resurgence since the arrival of David Moyes, but they are concerned that injuries to key players could stagnate their improvement.
It is fair to say that the decision of the West Ham board to appoint David Moyes went down terribly with the supporters following his unsuccessful spells at Manchester United, Real Sociedad and Sunderland. However, his doubters have been forced to admit their lack of faith in the Scottish manager was misplaced after watching him guide The Hammers out of the relegation zone in recent weeks.
One of the key components of West Ham’s revival has been Moyes’ ability to get the best out of his devestating attacking players, namely Marko Arnautovic and Manuel Lanzini.
Both Arnautovic and Lanzini have improved immeasurably under Moyes’ leadership, but their development will be placed on hold for the forseeable future after Football.London confirmed both players have been ruled out with hamstring injuries.
According to the report, Lazini’s injury is the worse of the two as the Argentine is set to miss up to 6 weeks of football.
Considering that Lanzini’s form has been one of the major influences in West Ham’s success during recent weeks, it is no surprise that the supporters have responded to the news with despair and frustration on Twitter.
And plenty of the supporters have called for the board to sign a replacement for Lanzini this month to avoid the prospect of slipping deeper into a relegation battle.
