The Spurs fans here in the Transfer Tavern were pretty pleased yesterday afternoon after they watched their charges close the gap on Chelsea at the summit of the Barclays Premier League to just four points.

The North London-based outfit have been a joy to watch for our neutral Tavern regulars this season and several fans of other clubs are hopeful that they can catch Chelsea in the race for the title.

Next season Spurs will look to go a little better in the Champions League having been knocked out in the group stages during the current campaign, despite a relatively kind group.

In order to ensure their place among Europe’s elite doesn’t fizzle out into more disappointment, the club will need to be savvy in the transfer market during the summer months.

Our landlord is intrigued by such a discussion and he set about looking at two industrious midfielders who should be snapped up by the club.

The Manchester United midfielder has undoubtedly been a key player for the Red Devils when he has played this season and there is little doubting that he could still have an influence at his former club.
