It was yet another defeat for Southampton in the Premier League last weekend after they lost 1-0 to West Ham.
It was the Saints’ 10th of the season, and central defender Jack Stephens has since called for improvement.
“These home games, especially against teams around us, we have to be a lot better,” Stephens was recently quoted as saying by the Daily Echo. The 25-year-old’s war cry, however, does not appear to have convinced fans, who have since taken to Twitter to criticise him.
Indeed, it has not be a good season for Stephens so far, with WhoScored handing the Englishman a 6.47 average match rating. As a whole, though, Southampton have not been great when it comes to defending.
No Premier League team has conceded more goals than the 36 Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men have let in, explaining supporters’ frustrations.

This is what hacks me off the most. These ridiculous comments from players. These players need to accept they are not good enough, they have no fight in them except Romeu, Ings and long. They cannot play as a team and are to scared of the ball.
