Our Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that it’s going to be a case of better late than never for their side in the transfer window this summer.
The men from White Hart Lane have had a pretty frustrating window so far this time around and many fans were expecting a fair few signings by now.
Indeed, the plan was obviously in their heads that the club would look to build sharply on last season’s title challenge but it only appears now that the club is getting it’s act together.
For sure, Davinson Sanchez has arrived in a big money deal and now it looks as though Serge Aurier is going to arrive with him passing a medical and now just waiting on a work permit – as of 12:08 yesterday on Sky Sports‘ transfer centre blog.
But, when you look at this deal, is there actually much point in Spurs signing the Ivorian from PSG?
Sure, he’s a good player but Kieran Trippier is also a very good right back and looks well suited to the way Spurs play whilst Kyle Walker-Peters is also a top youngster that deserves a go.
Indeed, the Spurs squad is nicely settled after Kyle Walker was let go when it seemed clear he and Mauricio Pochettino were not getting on so why have they now gone for a player who’s far more controversial than the England man?
It really is a risk that might not be worth taking.
