Spurs will be looking to get over their Champions League final loss with a successful summer in the transfer market.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino has done brilliantly to get Spurs playing some superb football and competing at the top end of the best competitions on offer, all while not spending a penny in the last two years.
However, the time has now come for Spurs to change tact and look at bringing in some new players to add to the squad, and one man who the club are being linked (via the Mirror) with is West Brom youngster, Rekeem Harper.
The Baggies midfielder was impressive last season when given his chance and looks to have a top-flight career mapped out for him, but with the likes of Liverpool and Juventus both keen on Harper, we here in the Tavern feel Spurs need to act quickly to secure his signature.
Harper has already shown all the ability necessary to achieve an excellent career at the top level of the game, and with Spurs having a good record of harnessing young talent from the lower leagues, it looks a match made in heaven.
The Londoners are surely desperate for reinforcements too in the middle of the park having never quite replaced Mousa Dembele, and with Christian Eriksen also rumoured to be on his way out of the club, there is a big opening here for Harper to make an immediate impact.
We have already seen just how well Dele Alli has done in the white of Spurs, and Harper could well go on to see that sort of success under Pochettino.
In terms of the club snapping up Harper too, it makes all kind of sense, with Spurs a club who are looking to build for the future while maintaining top performance levels in current times.
Harper was a regular for the Baggies towards the end of the season, and his ability on the ball, calmness in possession and scope for improvement, mark him out as the perfect signing for Pochettino’s men.
