With a Dele Alli-inspired victory over bitter rivals Chelsea still being celebrated by the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern, it’s fair to say they’re once again hopeful of winning the Premier League. 

Despite somewhat stuttering earlier in the campaign, the Lilywhites have returned to the battle for Premier League glory and Mauricio Pochettino’s work on Hotspur Way is being celebrated once again.

The Argentine coach has constructed a wonderfully vibrant side at White Hart Lane, built off a strong team ethic and a number of stalwarts have emerged under his stead.

Clearly, the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Jan Vertonghen and Hugo Lloris have established themselves as first-team regulars over the past two seasons and won’t be dropped unless tragedy strikes. Still, there a number of players in the starting eleven who absolutely must be kept around.

With that in mind, here’s a look at TWO players who Pochettino really shouldn’t axe.

Mousa Dembele

There’s little doubt Mousa Dembele is by far and away one of the most important players at the Lane, though the myriad of midfield options available to Pochettino could potentially see the Belgian dropped at one point if things again stall.

While the likes of Victor Wanyama, Eric Dier and Harry Winks provide options in the centre of the park, the immovable object that is the former Fulham ace needs to start week in, week out.

Moussa Sissoko

Though £30m summer signing Moussa Sissoko has a long way to go to prove he’s worth that kind of money, the Frenchman probably isn’t quite as bad as he’s been made out to be.

Spurs don’t really have anyone else who can break forward and carry the ball from deep with sheer pace and power, so the 27-year-old can be a useful option when the season gets tough.
