A number of Sunderland fans were far from impressed with what they saw from George Dobson on Saturday afternoon, with many of them taking to Twitter to vent their frustrations towards the midfielder.
The Black Cats had been on a terrific run of form over the last month or so, however the beginning of February appeared to change things for Phil Parkinson’s side as they appeared to crash back down to earth with a defeat to fellow promotion chasers Portsmouth.
Goals from Christian Burgess and James Bolton were enough for the hosts to take all three points, which would have left those that follow the Wearsiders spending the rest of their Saturday in anger and infuriated.
However, when taking a look at social media following the game, it would seem many directed their frustrations into the direction of Dobson, with the 22-year-old appearing to take the brunt of the criticism at the group of players who played at Fratton Park.
Indeed, the midfielder’s stats did not make for pleasant reading as WhoScored detailed that he had just five touches in the 90 minutes he was on the pitch and blocked just two shots.

Does he though? McGeady & McNulty were both better footballers than most at this club, but couldn’t get a look in. Dobson was awful today but Scowen stays benched & he plays Gooch at LB & keeps 5 at the back when we’re 2 down, until 10 mins from the end. Jurys still out IMO
