Swansea City striker could leave permanently

Speaking to French TV show Telefoot, Marseille President Jacques Henri-Eyraud has said that he’d like his side to make Bafetimbi Gomis’ move to the club permanent from Swansea City, leaving the Swans fans here in the Transfer Tavern feeling pretty happy.

Gomis went through a good run of form at the start of last season, but saw that come to an end as he struggled to find the net.

He has started this season well, too, scoring six goals in ten games for the side from the South of France and Henri-Eyraud has been impressed with what he’s seen.

He said: “I like Gomis a lot. He is very compatible with OM [Olympique Marseille]. If he wants to continue you with us, there is no problem.”

The striker has seen his parent club sign Fernando Llorente and Borja Baston as competition for his spot, with the latter scoring as recently as the game against Arsenal as the Swans continue to fight against relegation.

They drew their last game at home to Watford at the weekend 0-0 to leave themselves 19th, a point from safety.

Our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern thinks Gomis still has a lot more to give for the Swans, and thinks it’d be mad for the club to let him leave permanently!
