Spurs are absolutely flying and thanks to a 2-0 victory over Manchester City before the international break, they raced into second in the Premier League, something their fans in the pub are absolutely delighted about!
Despite losing Harry Kane to injury, plenty of other players seem to have really stepped up to cover for the loss of the English international, most notably Heung Min Son, who has been absolutely stellar over the past month or so.
Even the landlord in here, who seemed to doubt whether Spurs were even good enough to push for the top-four, let alone the title, is beginning to have a change of heart.
But it’s not always been so hunky-dory at White Hart Lane and in this article, we want to have a look at some of the signings that caused real shocks to the system.
Were they fantastic, appalling or just utterly bizarre bits of business?

Jurgen Klinsmann
In 1994, Spurs pulled off one of their best pieces of transfer business ever when they brought Jurgen Klinsmann to White Hart Lane.
They’d had a pretty poor season before that but Klinsmann’s arrival really perked up the Spurs faithful.
He became renowned for his “dive” celebration, poking fun at the media’s suggestion he goes down too easily.
He scored an 82nd minute winner on his debut against Sheffield Wednesday and all-round, he was one of the most charismatic, charming players to have ever played at the Lane.
What a signing.
Danny Murphy
Spurs’ ability to bring Danny Murphy to White Hart Lane had been touted as one of the best pieces of transfer business post-2000 but it was a move that turned pretty sour, pretty quickly.
Whilst he had glittering experience with Liverpool it was clear young England stars Michael Carrick and Jermaine Jenas were preferred straight away and Martin Jol used Murphy pretty sparingly.
His time at Spurs is often touted as the worst spell of his career and for the most part, he was a luxury signing who the manager was quite happy to sit on the subs bench.
A great bit of business to start with but the move went downhill come the end of his spell.
Kevin Prince Boateng
When Kevin Prince Boateng moved to White Hart Lane in 2007, it’s safe to say the footballing world were admiring Martin Jol’s ability to bring him to the club.
He was one of the brightest prospects around, known for his quick feet, passing and dribbling abilities. And despite Jol’s departure only a few months later, Juande Ramos did give him a run of games, but his potential was never fulfilled.
Luka Modric was eventually preferred and Boateng was then sold to Portsmouth, where he had the best spell of his career.
Spurs’ misery was concluded when Boateng scored the winner for Pompey in the 2010 semi-final against, you guessed it, Tottenham.
