Considering the pedigree of Aston Villa, it’s a sad and sorry sight to see them so aimlessly stuck in the second tier of English football.
Indeed, fans would be forgiven for the expecting their team to secure promotion the first, second, or even third year they’ve been stuck in the league. But things haven’t quite worked to plan, and with Villa’s performances being consistently poor for some time now, they are facing yet another year in the Championship. Unless, of course, they find a run of form.
With one eye on the future, manager Dean Smith will surely be looking to the arsenal of players he has available to him to help secure promotion next campaign. And, without a huge budget to spend, it seems likely that the club’s youth prospects stand a good chance of being selected.
That said, here are two wonderkids Aston Villa fans will absolutely adore by the end of 2019…
Callum O’Hare
Callum O’Hare, 20, is one of the names that Villa fans could, and want to, see playing in their first-team next year.
He’s already established himself as one of the most accomplished players in the under-23 squad, scoring 3 in and assisting 1 in 11 games, and has recently moved his talents over to League Two to help Carlisle United’s push for promotion.
O’Hare can play anywhere in the front four, but has been at his best in the No.10 role. He’s industrious, technically gifted, creative, and sets the perfect example for his teammates.
Big player who’s going to go far in the game.
Keinan Davis
Davis is another man destined to make a positive impact on Dean Smith’s squad in the future.
He’s got plenty of first-team experience as well, turning out for Steve Bruce’s side 28 times, which is a remarkable feat given he’s only 20 years old.
Admittedly his stats aren’t exactly the most illustrious, with 2 goals and 4 assists in all his appearances, but that’s not how he’s earned his name. Instead, he’s renowned for his tireless efforts in the forward positions, constantly aiding his teammates where possible, and providing support whenever he can to help the offensive movement build up fluidly.
With a Young Player of the Year award under his belt for his work during the 17/18 campaign and a recent injury behind him, Davis can finally continue on his mission to be a regular starter for Dean Smith.
