West Ham fans here in the Tavern are buzzing with life under David Moyes, as the Hammers continue to push towards Premier League safety.
Indeed, West Ham United looked like facing relegation from the Premier League for the first time since the 2010-11 season, but the appointment of former Manchester United manager David Moyes has been a breath of fresh air for the London club. And, the Scot has already managed to top his performances at previous managerial jobs, after establishing himself as one of the most impressive Premier League bosses this season.
Encouragingly, Moyes has been able to incorporate youngsters into the Hammers’ survival bid thus far, a decision that’s reaped huge rewards for the club’s results at the most desperate of times. Although, some of the younger generation have failed to make the cut under new management, something that’s seriously harmed their chances of a future at the London Stadium.
Therefore, there’s a considerable amount of thinking to be done by some of the West Ham United prodigies, with progression proving to be vital at this stage in their career. So, here’s a look at TWO youngsters who should seriously consider their futures in the English capital…
Reece Oxford
The 19-year-old was tipped as one of England’s most exciting prospects after making his debut for the Hammers back in 2015, with many of our local residents predicting a big future for the teenager.
However, times have changed since then and so has the club’s willingness to gift the youngster opportunities at a first-team level, as the Englishman is currently out on loan playing for Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany.
Although a permanent move away from the English capital at the end of the season may not be what the club wants, building a future at an establishment that’s willing to provide regular minutes to the teen could be huge for his progression. And, it’s safe to say that he’d receive a whole load of interest, with club’s all over the world well aware of the talents that the youngster possesses.
Sam Byram
The 24-year-old is still in the opening stages of his footballing career with lots of years yet to be claimed, but it’s been a very frustrating time for Sam Byram since making the move from Leeds United, as injuries continue to take their toll on the Englishman.
Of course, acquiring Pablo Zabaleta in the summer was a huge blow to any hopes Byram had, with a first-team place no longer guaranteed. And, since then the full-back has been floating in and out of the West Ham United side, with there being no change under current manager David Moyes.
Therefore, a move away from the London Stadium would be crucial in resurrecting his football career, with a switch to another Premier League club being a possibility for the right-back.
