The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are still celebrating their side’s brilliant 3-2 victory against Everton over the weekend…
The Lilywhites were certainly expecting a tough game, with a few in the Tavern even backing Everton for a victory, but it was Mauricio Pochettino’s side that came out on top, much to the delight of the Lilywhites in the pub.
There is seemingly even more good news forthcoming for the Tottenham fans, too, with the Sun noting that defender Ben Davies is set to secure a new long-term contract.
The Sun are reporting that Davies is close to signing the contract which will see him earn £12.5 million over the duration of his new four-year contract.
Davies has been forced to come into the side over the last few weeks, with regular option Danny Rose resigned to the injury table – with the English defender suffering from a knee injury.
Though he struggled during his first few weeks after coming in, Davies has finally started to reap the rewards of Pochettino’s faith with the Welshman putting in a succession of good performances.
The feelings towards him in the Transfer Tavern have certainly shifted, too, and whilst many were clamouring for his sale last month – the majority of the Tottenham fans are now delighted that his long-term future looks secured.
Davies has made 7 starts this season in the Premier League, in addition to 5 appearances from the bench.
