Many Tottenham Hotspur fans are furious at Michel Vorm after his ‘blunder’ against Norwich City in the FA Cup round-of-sixteen last night.
The goalkeeper parried an effort from long-range straight into the path of Norwich striker Josip Drmic who eventually bundled home the ball to make the score 1-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (goal highlight via BBC). The game then went to extra-time and penalties as the Canaries clinched victory 3-2 after nine spot-kicks were taken in total. They will now face the winners of either Derby County or Manchester United at home in the last game of the round tonight.
That was Vorm’s first appearance for Tottenham this season since rejoining, with the Dutch international falling behind Hugo Lloris and Paulo Gazzaniga in the pecking order under Jose Mourinho (via Transfermarkt). He also lost out on the battle of the Dutch goalkeepers as Tim Krul saved two penalties to Vorm’s one in the shootout (via Sofascore).
These Spurs fans were furious at his error, with one fan claiming Vorm ‘cost us the game’:
Agree it was a ridiculous decision to select Vorm last night. Vorm cost us the cup in the semi final v Man Utd in 2018 and did it again last night. Would have seen out a 1-0 win without his blunder.

Vorm is one of the worst keepers I’ve seen. Guess who called him back after he left….levy. Even Aston Villa bought a better keeper when Tom Heaton was injured but levy doesn’t want to spend a penny so he recalls Vorm back. Vorm’s blunder lead to Norwich Equalizer.
