Tottenham fans can be forgiven for not expecting loads from Juan Foyth. The young Argentine defender is a superb player and has proven that he’s more than capable of shining when called upon by Mauricio Pochettino, and the fans have loved getting an insight into the player by Alasdair Gold’s article on Football.london.

Foyth came to prominence in the absence of a number of key senior defenders last November. His Premier League debut was the stuff of nightmares when he gave away two penalties having been 3-0 up away at Wolves to ensure a nervy finish as the Lilywhites held on for a 3-2 win. However, his next game in the top flight saw him bag the winner against Crystal Palace.
After that game, the Lilywhites welcomed a number of first-team players back to fitness and Foyth’s appearances have been few and far between since then. However, the Argentine is doing the right things on and off the pitch and it would be no surprise to see him crack the senior side and become a key player in the next few years as he looks to usurp either Jan Vertonghen or Toby Alderweireld in the senior side.

Great read, sounds like a really nice kid. Hadn’t thought about him stepping up to DM on occasion a la Dier but that’s an intriguing possibility. He definitely deserves more game time which is always going to be hard with Jan, Toby and Davi at his position

I said this kid would be class and was excited for him to join before he kicked a ball in anger for us. Part of why I rooted for him is his club tried to force a sale to PSG and he held firm and instead forced a move to us.

The fans expect big things of Foyth and who can blame them seeing as he’s got the likes of Pochettino, Alderweireld and Vertonghen to learn from.
