The anniversary of Lucas Moura’s arrival at Spurs is right around the corner, and as the rumour mill has been churning, a lot of Lilywhites are still sceptical over any potential incomings in January. However, Corriere dello Sport has claimed, via The Daily Mail, that Daniel Levy is eyeing up a £45 million move for Roma’s Cengiz Under.

The £45 million fee roughly translates to around 52 million euros, and it’s a sum that the supporters have been laughing at as they’re all convinced that their club will never shell out that sort of money on a mostly unproven 21-year-old winger who the majority of football fans in England have never even seen play. With that being said, he must have some sort of ability as the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Bayern Munich are all interested.
Apparently, the winger is being lined up as the heir to Arjen Robben’s throne at the Allianz Arena, so if the Tottenham fans were sceptical over his abilities they may have to cast their eyes over him for a few games to make a decision. Unfortunately, when it comes to Levy it’s not about the player but more about the price, and with the new stadium costs and delays, it’s hard to see the tight businessman affording Mauricio Pochettino the near £50 million to sign the Turkish international.

Could have bought him for sub €15m a year ago. Good old Levy haggled his way to pay 350% more

Or more correctly; they are not.

No we ain’t …. we could not even agree a &15/25 million pounds fee for Grealish in the summer, so to spend this much seems a bit far fetched

The Lilywhites have zero faith in Daniel Levy forking out for Under, and will likely have to settle for another bleak window in January.
