Tottenham Hotspur have announced that young midfielder Harvey White has signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until 2023 (via @SpursOfficial), leading fans to rave over ‘the next Roberto Carlos’.
White has been a regular at youth level for Spurs this season and has played 12 times in the Premier League 2, scoring three goals and providing two assists. He has also made six appearances in the UEFA Youth League, scoring once (Transfermarkt).
Although primarily a central midfielder, the 18-year-old has also shown his versatility this term by playing as a left-back several times (Transfermarkt). He will now hope to follow other academy graduates such as Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp into the first team at the north London club.
Following news of White’s contract extension, many Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to admit their delight that the youngster has committed his future to the club. One even described him as the “next Roberto Carlos“, perhaps alluding to his impact whilst playing as a left-back at youth level. Here is what some of the Spurs faithful had to say…

What I’ve seen of him preseason and in the UEFA youth league looks really impressive. Surprised not to have seen him training more with the 1st team. Apart from Parrot looks the pick to me.
