Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways on Tuesday evening as they secured a 2-1 victory against Middlesbrough in their FA Cup third-round replay.
It was a solid enough performance from Spurs to set up a fourth-round tie against Southampton, with plenty of players producing decent displays. However, one man came in for specific praise from supporters on social media after the game, midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.
The Argentinian produced arguably one of his best performances in a Tottenham shirt against the Teeside outfit, playing three key passes and three accurate long balls as well as completing two successful dribbles. Added to that, he also managed to get his name on the scoresheet, netting the opening goal of the game (SofaScore).
It was only Lo Celso’s second goal of the campaign and only the second time this season that he has completed the full 90 minutes of a game since joining from Real Betis in the summer (Transfermarkt). Jose Mourinho will hope that it kick-starts the 23-year-old’s Tottenham career as he could prove to be the perfect replacement for Christian Eriksen who may join Inter Milan this month (Sky Sports).
One thing is for sure, most Spurs fans were left extremely impressed by the Argentine’s display on Tuesday, with many taking to Twitter to heap praise on him. Here is what some had to say…
