The France international had been speaking about his recent upturn in form and revealed that he was playing his best football for Spurs at the present moment in time.
Speaking to Le Parisian, as relayed by AS, he said: “Perhaps I have never felt as strong as today.
“I am comfortable, fulfilled, confident. It is often said that the best form of a player is between 28 and 30 years old. I did not believe it before, but I have certainly had my best season since playing football. I must continue to ride this wave. Last season, I played 95 per cent of the games as an axial midfielder. This is where I have the most success, where I express myself best. I have assimilated our possession game. It took time, but I like it there a lot.”
Indeed, Sissoko has become a key player for Mauricio Pochettino over the last couple of seasons, with last year’s campaign drawing plenty of praise from sections of the media, including The Telegraph who dedicated an article to his resurgence.
According to stats collected by WhoScored, the 30-year-old managed to average 1.2 tackles, 0.6 interceptions and 0.7 clearances in his 29 Premier League appearances, whereas he achieved an average of two tackles, one interception and 0.5 clearances in his ten Champions League appearances.
Sissoko has continued with his fine form at the start of this season as well, having completed 0.8 tackles, 0.3 interceptions and 0.8 clearances in all four top-flight matches so far.
However, whilst his defensive contribution might not be an area of his game that can be criticised too heavily, fans have decided to take a dig at his attacking offering.
Many of them took to Twitter to mock the 30-year-old and made a number of jibes.
Here are just some of their reactions…

It wouldn’t hurt to practice your shooting though, would it?
