Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose this month, that is according to a report from Spanish news outlet El Diario Vasco via Sport Witness.
The Brazilian has scored eight goals in 20 appearances in La Liga this term, but all of those strikes have come in his last 16 appearances so his recent form is good (Transfermarkt). According to the report, the Spanish outfit do not want to sell the 28-year-old this month, but he does have a release clause in his contract worth €70 million (£60 million).
Spurs are thought to be searching to a striker that they can sign this month as they look to replace injured star Harry Kane. The England captain will be out of action until at least April after undergoing surgery on a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring (tottenhamhotspur.com).
But it seems that most fans can’t see the club forking out such a hefty fee for Willian Jose, probably due to Daniel Levy’s recent history of rarely spending big money on players. Indeed, Tottenham went the whole of the 2018/19 campaign without signing anyone at all (Transfermarkt).
Here is how some fans reacted on Twitter after seeing the transfer link to the Real Sociedad hitman…
