Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose has returned to first-team training ahead of their crunch Premier League tie against Liverpool on Saturday evening (via @SpursOfficial).
The 29-year-old has been struggling with a calf problem and hasn’t featured at all in any of Spurs’ last four fixtures in the Premier League and FA Cup (Transfermarkt). In his absence, youngster Ryan Sessegnon has been given an opportunity in the team, starting in each of those games (Transfermarkt).
Rose has been the regular left-back at Tottenham for a few years now, whilst also winning 29 caps for England (Transfermarkt). However, recently he hasn’t really been the flavour of the month in north London and he has been told by chairman Daniel Levy that there will be no new contract for him (Evening Standard).
However, it remains a positive for Jose Mourinho that he has a senior player returning to fitness, especially given their recent injury crisis which has worsened this week with the news that Harry Kane and Moussa Sissoko will be out until April.
That said, it seems that Spurs fans aren’t too excited about Rose’s potential return to action, with some on Twitter even suggesting that him coming back isn’t really a positive any more. That is perhaps due to his below-par performances of late, indeed this season he loses possession on average 14.2 times per game and has made two errors leading to goals (SofaScore).
Here is what some had to say after seeing the injury update about Rose…

Oh good. Another game followed by another month-long sulk. On that basis, just four more games til the end of the season left, Danny
